He's a complete yes man but I really like Steve Kean.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,434 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

I like him. Has acted with a lot of class and dignity despite all the rubbish going on around him. Would be happy to see them do it, but I think their run in will kill them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,450 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I don't like him but don't blame him fully for whats going on at Rovers. I blame the owners who hired him and have gotten rid of a lot of our best players.

Theres nothing in that phone-in thats of any importance.

Allardyce got the boot for having them in mid table safety. Kean is relegating them, but that seems to be ok with the owners!!!

    Nutjobs!!

I really hope Blackburn survive so that Kean can stick the two fingers up at the supporters who abused him.

Most likely need to get at least 4 pts away to Chelsea and Spurs. They're doomed I feel.

He deserves it!! He's bringing a whole club down through incompetence!! If he cared about Blackburn, he would have f*cked off a long time ago!

What rubbish? Theres not been any rubbish going on around him. This annoys me so much, the media came out supporting him because of a drummed up story about fans interrupting training which never happened. They've used that to suggest that fans are unreasonable.

The fans have seen a manager who got us 10th after having to sell to pay the debt and use the leftover money to improve the squad get sacked while we were going well in the league again. They've had to witness these idiot owners declare they were going after Ronaldinho and Beckham which was never true. They've had to watch as a rookie manager dragged us into a relegation battle last season. We seen our Chairman, who was widely regarded as one of the best at his job in the league, forced out and then watch as our MD Tom Finn and Richard Matthewman both walk in the summer.
On the football side we seen Phil Jones leave, Keith Andrews and El Hadji Diouf frozen out, then this year Samba forces his way out while Nelsen is allowed leave on a free. Oh and Salgado has been frozen out now because of a clause in his contract that kicks in if he plays one more game. And we've spent this entire season in the relegation battle.

On top of all that it became known late last year that we still have a debt because our new owners never cleared it even though they led us all to believe they had.

Its been nothing but misery for Blackburn Rovers fans since the new owners came in and sacked Sam Allardyce.

He didn't deserve all that abuse.
Kean was hardly going to walk from a Premier league job, where would he go from there?

    Hear hear.

No-one deserves the abuse he got tbh! He surely has the right to try to do the best job that he can? Feel awful sorry for him. Really hope this abuse doesn't affect him in a way we don't know about

What abuse are you talking about? Please give details? The Kean out chants? Anything else is made up bull and possibly if there is something else it came from one idiot.

Just because there is far worse shouted at matches does not mean that it isn't abuse. Anyhow I'm sure all of this will only continue into the championship next season which is sad tbh

Are you saying it's a normal thing for a manager to take widespread abuse from his home support?

There was a match at Ewood, i can't remember who they were playing, it may have been Bolton, but he got some abuse that night!!

The bloke took over from Allardyce (whom i despise, by the way) and he's relegating them!! Why hasn't he been sacked??

I look at Steve Kean and all i can see is someone who is pretending to be a manager!!

If i supported Blackburn, i'd be fuming!!

It is when he has a team battling relegation for the second season in a row. It is when in that second season the team has a total of 6 points after 10 games and 10 points after 15 games.

What do you expect fans to do at that stage? Just sit there and hope things get better? When they've been getting progressively worse from the moment he took charge.

Remember that it was around Christmas I think.. That was simply disgusting the treatment he got that night.

Can't understand though with only a few games to go in the season and the team needing all the support they can get, that fans still decide to protest? What good is it now?

Im with eagle eye on this, i hope its not Liverpool fans complaining about treatment of a manager?

They should have directed their rage at the board then.
It's like when Staunton was managing Ireland. The FAI took most of the flak. I wanted Staunton out but knew full well he wouldn't walk because he was wrongly given the job but you couldn't blame him for staying on - why would he have walked when he wouldn't have gotten a better job or any compensation.

This isn't normal though. Grand booing at the final whistle and showing displeasure but this isn't normal abuse. Fellow managers came out standing by him after that game in Ewood Park against Bolton. Didn't the LMA make a statement condemning it? Gee he's a guy trying to do a job at the end of the day.

They are protesting against the owners, we want them to sell the club. There is a real fear that we won't be coming back up anytime soon under these owners. We don't have long to get back up either because when those parachute payments dry up we are done and dusted if we still have a debt.

Doesn't matter about whether you were right or not, your treatment of him was classless and at times downright disgraceful.

Pockets of all supporters do the same so you aren't alone by any means.

I heard a bizarre criticism of that a few months ago on the guardian's Football Weekly from Fernando Duarte who claimed that fans should shut up and put up and that every club is bigger than any of their fans who are unimportant. They should stop thinking they or their opinion should have an impact on the club they support.

    Hopefully Blackburn go down.

How was it classless?? How else do the fans put across their point that a manager should be nowhere near a club except for them to chant that they want him out!!

Liverpool fans get stick for wanting a manger out, they get stick for wanting a manager to stay etc!!

Whatever way the wind is blowing i suppose

    I don't understand that post Lloyd:confused:

Have a read of this. Its Keith Andrews after he left.
Andrews, 31, who returned from a successful loan spell at Ipswich before Roy Hodgson agreed a free transfer for him on deadline day, refused to play for Kean.
And the Ireland midfielder, who gave up the final 12 months of his Blackburn contract, says there is little chance that Chris Samba will play for Rovers again.
Andrews blasted the club’s owners Venky’s, saying that he could believe current rumours that they did not know that relegation from the Barclays Premier League was possible.
He said: ‘It was my desire to leave Blackburn that has enabled me to get to West Brom. I walked away from 12 months’ contract. It shows how desperate I was to get away

‘The problems started last summer. I spoke to people at the club towards the end of last season and said, “If you want me to move on, that’s fine, I’m sure we can sort something out”.
‘They guaranteed me some football. But then, during pre-season, my advisers were hearing I was being touted around.
‘There was a season-long loan agreed with a club in the Championship. They had agreed it without my knowledge. I was told in Hong Kong when we were on a pre-season tour.
‘I want to play and enjoy my football. It was underhanded the way they went about it.
‘I flew back. I was never going to play for Blackburn again after that.
‘I went to Ipswich and loved it. But when I went back to Ewood Park there was no communication.

‘They were of the impression I’d be out playing against Fulham when I came back from Ipswich. But I told them I had no inclination to play for that club again after the way they had treated me.
‘I told them that I wanted to leave the club and he (Steve Kean) was fine with that, which might indicate that it wasn’t his decision.
‘Certain people at the club wanted me in the team.
‘They had seen me scoring goals in the Championship and they wanted me back in the team. Whether they thought the Championship was a higher division than the Premier League, I’m not too sure.’
Asked whether he would be surprised at the rumours that Venky’s did not know whether or not the club could be relegated, Andrews answered: ‘Not in the slightest.’
Moving on to the Samba situation, Andrews added: ‘The impression I got is that there is no inclination for Chris to play.
‘I can understand the supporters’ frustrations. It was run so well by John Williams, especially when Mark Hughes was there, they were over-achieving. To see the way it’s gone it’s tough.
‘I’ve never really had any dealings with the owners. There’s so many financial directors, sporting directors and god-knows-what directors at that club.

‘It’s a shame the way it has gone. I’m glad I’m out of there.’

No and if you read my first post which is no.4 in this thread you'll possibly understand.

Kean for his part is a liar and a hopeless manager.

No need, I agree, the owners are terrible, Kean has done alright considering what he has to put up with I think, his best possible outcome is that he gets himself a decent job elsewhere.

Out of curiosity, why is he a liar?

Hope that Blackburn stay up - have a lot of time for Kean.
Tells it how it is, and has kept his mouth shut despite all the abuse.

Absolutely disgraceful that some of the fans were still calling for Kean out even when Hoillett put them 2 up with an absolute screamer.

Really hope that they stay up, and send QPR down in the meantime!

Are you trolling or something? Lol,

    Lets see,

tells it how it is --- NO
kept his mouth shut --- NO

how can you even put them two things in the same sentence anyways?

They weren't calling for Kean out, they were calling for Venkys out.
