New DS model before Christmas?

    I'm getting a 3DS for my son for Christmas and I saw a bargain so want to pick it up now. If a newer one pops onto the scene before then he'll want that instead though. How do I find out if there's one coming out before Christmas?

    There has been absolutely no indication that there'll be a new 3DS model before Christmas, and I think there's an extremely slim chance of a new model.

    The original model (unlike the DS original) doesn't leave as much room for re-modelling, so I'd recommend getting it at any time that's convenient to you.

    There won't be, they'll be focused on getting you to buy their new home console the Wii U for Christmas. :p

    I'd say if there was to be a redesign announced, I'm not sure where it would be done. These days Nintendo seem to have multiple places for announcements with the quarterly shareholder conferences(Think the next is this Wednesday), the Nintendo Direct videos(like the one that was on Saturday) and the big expos such as E3 in June.

    I think hardware announcements will happen at Investor Calls.
    Upcoming (within the next 4/5 months) games at Nintendo Direct.
    And big secretive stuff at e3/other conferences.
