    Hi

My husband has just water damaged his iphone 4 and he has insurance with Zurich phonecover with O2!

"Previous claimers with Zurich" - will the insurance company ask for the iphone back before they replace it with a new one please does anybody know or will they automatically send out a new one once the excess costs are paid for as he will be out of the country to send it back and will they block the old water damaged phone?

Also will he be locked into another contract with them if he claims???

    Thanks :)

I'm sure that they would cover the water damage in event of claim. I know that the water damage would be an issue however if you were claiming under warranty from apple say for a device fault. The insurance however is different. Read the small print of the contract to be sure. In relation to your other question, your husband would not be tied to another contract.

    EDIT: Info from site here

I claimed last year for water damage. I had to fill out claim form and faxed it to them. Then gave them a ring about an hour or two later. I had to send the phone into them, which I didn't mind as it wasn't working. Did take a couple of days to get the replacement which was a pain. FYI you'll need to get a new sim to use in an old phone if it doesn't take micro sim

I claimed too took about 5 days after original fax. They sent a courier with the replacement phone and courier took the water damaged phone. It has nothing to do with your contract with O2. Also the replacment phone I received was unlocked the damaged phone wasn't. And you won't need to get a new sim to fit an old phone just get a sim adaptor from any phone shop.

Insurance companies normally want to see and retain damaged products if they are paying out for a replacement.
