Hi all, does anyone know where I can buy a pressure canner in Ireland. I am planning on a glut from the garden this year and want to can some tomato sauces and other things. A regular pressure cooker wont do it, its needs to be a pressure canner. Thanks

I use a Prestige Hi-dome cooker to bottle Albacore Tuna.
You won't find canners over here, they are almost exclusively a US thing.
What are you intending to use as a jar? I find that the Le Parfait "Wiss" jars are the best but are pricey.
Ikea sell Le Parfait type spring clip jars that are very good value and work well.

I have the prestige high dome too, you get them in argos, the old school one is still meant to be the best, I researched a lot, the newer ones are made in China and have a poor seal.

    This one

    Not this range

It goes to 15psi too, many are only 12psi nowadays, 15psi is important if canning as it greatly increases processing time. It can be ran at higher psi too, I think the manual says up to 28psi, but they do not give you the extra weights to do this.

I think I can fit at least 3 large pataks sauce jars in it.

I have searched and never found proper good canners on sale here or even from the UK, cheapest option was to import from the US, the best brand is always said to be "All American"

It is probably the most spacious you will find in a normal shop here, and the 15psi is a must for canning. So it is probably the best bet.

I have only canned rice before in mine.

If you want to be doing any serious amount then I would get an "all american" one.

It is on amazon with free delivery to here
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Prestige-Aluminium-Pressure-Cooker-Litre/dp/B0007U94U0/ref=zg_bs_3147951_1

its listed as their best selling pressure cooker.
