I have a head cold for the past few days. Constant sneezing and runny nose. I normally go for a run at least twice a week. I didn't go on Monday as i thought the cold would have cleared by now. In posters opinion should i go tonight or will i do more harm than good.

Go for a run. If you feel worse after a while, go home. if not keep running.

I know if sounds obvious, but sometimes its impossible to tell if you are fit for a run, until you are out there.

If it's in your chest at all, don't go out. If you have a sore or tickly throat I would be hesitant about going out when the air is this cold and dry.

Otherwise do as huskerdu says. You'll know fairly quickly if it's a goer or not.

The generic advice is that a head cold is fine, but don't run with a chest cold because you can do damage.

Next time you get a cold, take Aconite 30c (homeopathy) as soon as possible after symptoms have kicked in. Depending on the strength of the cold virus, you could knock it on the head with just one pill. Other times you've to take them every 15 mins or half hour. You take a pill when needed. I haven't had a cold in about 7 years coz of Aconite. The worst that happens is that I feel a bit woozy as I fight it off, but never get the full-blown drippy nose, streaming eyes, headache, etc, that I used to get so often. Aconite's also great for shock and fear. Also used it last night with my little fella's dry, barking cough. Worked a treat. Go for the jog, but keep warm afterwards!

If you can't find aconite, a bit of chalk or sugar will also do the trick

I cut back on my mileage for nearly a month around Christmas coz I thought I was dying of some rare flu/cold/virus...turned out to be a mild alergy to something (never found out) doc told me to try piritin and gave me a nasal spray cleared in 24hrs, I would say if you have a temperature then rest if no temp and just runny nose reduce your mileage and see how u go.

Wow will have to look into this aconite stuff. I was at the hospital Sunday night as my kid had croup. I wonder why the highly trained medical staff who take an oath to preserve and enhance human life didn't recommend it. By the way I'm being very sarcastic here just so we're all sure here are some :rolleyes::rolleyes: and one or two :D;)

Would that be the white blackboard chalk or would the blue chalk from a builders chalkline do? I'm thinking about two dessert spoons of blue chalk in a glass of milk, after that a headcold will be the least of your worries!
