I've had this issue with Firefox for over a year on two Windows PCs. The problem has never occured in Firefox on a linux PC and it's not an issue in Chrome or IE on any platform:

If I type a single word into the address bar and hit enter, the program freezes for 10-20 seconds. If I type two or more words in, a google search result returns. I can, if I remember to do it, type "g kittens" and it will google search for kittens but I generally forget to do it and it's a real pain to have everything stop working for a bit.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there an easy way to resolve it or should I just get used to adding the g before everything?
