Adding additional licenses to existing foreign license

    Hi,

I want to start on my drivers theory test and IBT pretty soon.
I currently hold a class B license issued in Austria. Do I have to trade in my current license or can a separate A license be issued without any further complications?

    Thanks in advance

You can keep and continue using the Austrian B licence here. There is no reason why you can't keep the A sepperate.

Maybe this reason is because no one is allowed to hold more than 1 licence issued within EU?

You can get a learner permit in A. However, when you pass the practical test you will have to exchange your Austrian Licence. You will then get an Irish full licence with classes A and B. You can't hold two full EU licences.

Yes. I misread that. The thread I had read before was talking about Australian licences. My bad.
