    Hi guys,

I was wondering could you answer a few questions for me?

I was writing for a magazine with distribution throughout Europe on a freelance basis, after the Xmas article I ceased writing for them but they still owe me for the last issue. They've agreed to pay it, I have a list of emails saying various dates to expect it by, all have passed. I have threatened legal action.

The amount is ~E350, can I pursue this through the small claims court or do I have to hire a solicitor? If I was to hire a solititor I presume the company I'd be taking a case with would be liable for the legal costs?

Also, as I set a definitive date for payment which was breached am I entitled to any degree of compensation?

    Cheers,

    'Ham

To my knowledge matters of debt are not heard in the Small Claims Court - perhaps someone else can confirm this ?
If you did take them to court and get an award for costs made in your favour there remains the whole problem of actually enforcing the award and collecting monies due - is it worth the heartache for just 350 quid ?

Winning is one thing - actually collecting the ' winnings ' is an entirely different matter.
