Govt revenues and expenditure data - more accurate

On many occasions it is said that the Govt collects 30-35 bn.

This is incorrect.

This is partly the Govt's fault, as they publish monthly Exchequer returns, but these do not give a full picture of the finances.

One big difference is that the Exchequer Returns only include tax revenue, not PRSI.

Also note that the Govt have some non-tax revenue.

As a point of information, and to improve the debate, I would like to point out the actual data.

Here are the Govt's current and capital revenues.

2005 = 51.1bn + 4.3bn = 55.434

2006 = 57.7bn + 6.4bn = 63.988

2007 = 60.3bn + 6.9bn = 67.208

2008 = 56.8bn + 4.4bn = 61.138

2009 = 49.7bn + 2.7bn = 52.384

2010 = 48.8bn + 2.3bn = 51.105

NB: it soesn't seem to quite match the CSO data, which shows that there may be different definitions or accounting practices.
