    heard a cock crowing at 10:30-10:45 last night.just wondering if this is normal procedure for them?never heard it before myself anyway

    No it's not normal,
    I keep loads of poultry for years now with a good few cocks,
    they can crow anytime but not really near or after dusk.

    Something might have spooked him...

    I often here them crowing late. Was nearer 12 just last week.
    I often wonder is there something that spooked them. I was wondering about pine martins etc but who knows.
    I have noticed it causes a chain reaction with others crowing.

    yes it does, once one starts they all do, like a warning system

    I have birds for years though and if they crow at night it's because they are frightened or spooked by something and the warning goes out.
