    http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/246375/Inbetweeners-return-with-only-three-lads/
The Inbetweeners is to return to the small screen for a surprise fourth series.
James Buckley, 24, who plays sex-obsessed Jay Cartwright, let slip that more outrageous adventures were on the cards for the four lads.
But there will be one shock twist – one of them will be killed off.
James talked about the new series during a trip to the US, saying: “We have to see what happens.
“Maybe one of them dies and the other three have to join up for the funeral.
“But the question is: who are they gonna get rid of?”
He would not be drawn on whether the one who dies is likely to be him, Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas, 28), geeky Will McKenzie (Simon Bird, 27) or Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison, 26).
The boys were last seen in the film version of the show celebrating their departure from school with a holiday to Crete where they got “knee-deep in clunge”.
They also featured on Red Nose Day last year by travelling the UK in a Fiat to find the country’s 50 rudest place names.
A new series is likely to feature them starting at college or embarking on their working lives.
Show creators Damon Beesley, 40, and Iain Morris, 38, have previously said fans had seen the last of the pals.
But the movie’s success has forced them to have a rethink.
The series, which followed the lads at fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive, was an overnight hit and won a string of top awards.
And it proved to be a huge success at the box office when released last August.
The film grossed £45million, while its production budget was just £3.5m.

I wouldnt mind Simon dying he is my least fav

Last thing I heard there was going to be two specials. Some interesting links on that website.

All 4 are key to the show it would ruin the chemistry of the show if they were to kill 1 of them off

It was clearly an off-hand comment. Bad journalism to play that angle up.

I expected another film more than another series given the film's success

But I was talking to James Buckly on easter sunday and he told me there was no chance because the writers were working on something else and blake has another 4 months in the play he's doing.

There's going to be two specials and thats it.

I agree this is a buzz generation exercise. I'd expect a double episode special and id be amazed if C4 didn't do at least one more film. You don't get the opportunity to make such a cheap film that is all but guaranteed a decent box office very often.

Reads like he was joking to me.

Ugh the movie was enough, and pretty tough to endure. Great show, love the characters in their 20 - 30 min bursts but the 1.5 hrs was painful.

Besides... didnt "Simon" go to college in that other TV show Fresh Meat? It was basically the same character.

Tbh I was happy with where the movie left off. I am a firm believer in quit while you're ahead so having another series is a bit much to me. Anyway wasn't one the reasons they ended it because the actors were getting too old to be believable as teens? They're only going to get older...

I agree the comment about killing one of them off was offhand and probably a joke. I do hope there's a decent premise though rather than just showing them in college doing the same **** as always. If they're specials there's more a chance of this I think. Just wait and see I guess...

i agree the film was poor but the tv show is excellent

Fresh meat was good... thank god he didn't play Simon in it. Anyhow, seems like this is just dragging it out.

Besides the 4 guys themselves, one of the great parts of the show was the guy who played their teacher, or year supervisor. He obviously couldn't be there if they were in college. TBH I wish they'd just leave it now. Less is more in things like this.

Only way a series could work is that it takes place over a weekend or something like that. that way you could bring in a couple of the supporting characters without it looking terrible. Strangely one good way for that would be a funeral.

    http://www.chortle.co.uk/news/2012/04/18/15239/more_inbetweeners%3F_thats_total_bollocks
The creator of The Inbetweeners has angrily denied reports the show will return for a surprise fourth series.
Writer Iain Morris called a story in the unreliable Daily Star ‘total bollocks’ and criticised the paper for getting fans’ hopes up.

Should of just said that the Daily Star was unreliable, total bollocks and left it at that.

I'm a bit lost is this the most recent season? I tend to just watch it on and off. Not sure if the one with simon passing his driving test part of this season 4 but think it priceless. Best episode I've seen out of the others. I am a bit mixed on the film thought it was funny but the series is way better despite the crude elements still hilarious.

You'd kind of relate to the scenes of him driving as a learner/newly qualified driver.

There was no forth season, it was a rumour. As far as I remember the episode where Simon passes his driving test is the first series.

I'm a firm believer in quite while you're ahead, ala Faulty Towers and Father Ted.
I thought the movie wasn't great but love all three seasons on TV.
To do a 4th season would probably be quite tragic.

The Fr. Ted one reference is a bit strange, not like they quit while ahead by choice

No, but the point is remains solid, they quit while they were ahead.
    Irrespective of the reason.

Hadn't they already called it a day before Morgan died?

Yeah the 3rd season was always planned as the last with Coming to America as the final ever episode. It's just a common misconception that it ended because of Dermot's death.

Not sure how I feel about this. I felt like the movie was the perfect end and that another is completely unnecessary. I'll try stay open minded but I've got a feeling they're only making this for money.
