    Hi,

I have been renting in an apartment complex for the last number of months.
The apartment complex is privately owned and all apartments are rented to students mostly. I have been here on and off for the last two years.
Last December, I moved out for a few months with the proviso that I was returning in March, this was a stipulation in my rent agreement. I was up to date with my rent payments and I sought permission to leave some personal belongings in the apartment. Permission was granted verbally.
Upon my return in March, I was informed that they had moved my belongings out of the apartment I had been in and they were moving me to another apartment in the complex. Basically, they put someone else in my apartment for some reason.
This was not a major issue until I retrieved my belongings from where they stored them, I realised there was lots of items missing and two items damaged.
The receptionist did replace some items (albeit with inferior goods) and my request for compensation fell on deaf ears.
I was given a key for my new apartment but never paid my rent for my current length of stay. My plan was to hold out for some financial compensation for the loss of lots of my personal belongings.
I reiterated my request for compensation a month later when they requested payment and I was told to email the manager..which I did.
Two weeks later and still no word from them. They have my deposit but by the time I will be moving out in a number of weeks I will owe them 2.5 times what my deposit is worth but I expect I will still not have received any compensation for the loss of and damage to my belongings.

I have since heard that the development is gone into receivership but not sure if this is the full development or a different part..

If in the coming weeks, they do not contact me with an offer for compensation, I have a good mind to move out and leave them with just my deposit. This company are dreadfully organised and have f*cked me around in the past.

    What do you advise?

    thanks for reading..
