The media are gonna go crazy with the amount of English players there

Aguero has to win it though

hmm, this isn't even a contest.

    not a close one anyway.

    Kun.

    easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

Don't think it will be Aguero simply because players as established as him rarely win it. Ronaldo was eligible in 08 after his wonder season and Rooney was eligible in seasons where Ashley Young, who was older, and James Milner won it.

    Maybe Hart? Tim Krul, even?

Kun deserves it but I think Kyle Walker will win.

Slight problem there buddy, this is the official shortlist. I didn't just pick 6 names out of my hoop ;)

    Ah right :P

There was no poll when I first looked at it!

Kun should get it and its a joke if he doesn't. Can see Walker winning alright :/

Aguero should win but an I'd say Bale will get it.

Why didn't Henderson get a nod? :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,317 ✭✭✭kevohmsford

Aguero will probably get it. Chamberlain has been excellent for Arsenal when he has played. Amazing young player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,979 ✭✭✭Vurnon San Benito

Danny Welbeck, Chamberlain, Sturridge - how?! Absolute nonse.

Chamberlain has had a few decent games all season, Sturridge the same - Welbeck has managed a few goals, nothing spectacular

    Tim Krul anyone?
These nominations get more laughable each year!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 833 ✭✭✭Ganymede Glow

    Aguero

No juan mata? Yet they have sturridge and chamberlain on the list....very strange. Maybe he is too old to be nomnated for this????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,416 ✭✭✭Jimmy Iovine

Has to be Aguero. I really hope Bale doesn't get it.

It's a year too early for Chamberlain I think. Next year he'll be a very strong contender.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,818 ✭✭✭Tigerandahalf

Maybe they got confused and thought it was a British selection. And threw kun in for good measure. Premier league has been poor standard this year. When you look at utd team, a lot of mediocre players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,630 ✭✭✭steelcityblues

Aguero is 23. Why is he in this category?

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 9,654 Mod ✭✭✭✭mayordenis

Aguero is 24 in the summer I love the guy but I just think this whole young player thing is getting weird, it really should be under 21 tops in my opinion.

Balotelli? Seriously, he's better than Sturridge

If it was they prob wouldnt have enough good players to nominate. People wouldnt be interested in it.

    No Newcastle player?

Who really though? Cabaye Tiote Ba Cisse HBA Colo have been far and away our best players and all are too old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,041 ✭✭✭Havermeyer

    I went with Walker.

I'm surprised Aguero is on the list tbh. He's been around for quite a while now, and is 24 in a couple of months.

How old is young these days?

Perhaps more for senior player awarfq

The question about age qualification is brought up every year and every year it's still the exact same answer.

The player must be 23 or under at the start of the current season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,818 ✭✭✭Tigerandahalf

    How old is Tiote?

    25.

But between me and you, he's actually 34..

Aguero, although I'm surprised to see him on the list

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,818 ✭✭✭Tigerandahalf

Tiote is like a man after a hard day in the bog. His father must have worked in the coal mines.

Am I alone in thinking there is no deserving Newcastle candidate and that there success has been moreso down to many players being very good.

Coloccini and Ba have been very good but neither have even been the best in their position.

Agree its been a more collective rather than individual effort tbh, we'd be more in line to get team of the season rather than an individual award which is fair enough.

I'd argue that Krul has been as good as, if not better, than Hart.

Hart doesn't deserve to be there either. Should be Kompany.

Wojciech Szczesny should be on that list imo.

Em, the big attacking young players getting their games for the top teams? Not all that outrageous imo. There are better nominees, I'd go for Smalling or Evans over Welbeck from United but the big joke is that 23-24 year oldsare eligible for the award, it should definitely be capped at 21. You mentioned Krul-who else would you have in there instead of the three you mentioned? There seems to be a lot of outrage in here, who are better candidates?

    Kun should walk this.

    On the YPOTY list?

Am surprised that Woj Szez wasnt on that list ahead of Oxlade-Chamberlain from an Arsenal perspective. Aguero should win this award by a country mile as he has been first class most times that I have watched him play.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,763 ✭✭✭Jax Teller

Does the ox deserve to be there ? He's only played in 13 premier league games .

Balotelli scored 17 goals this season at the same age as Welbeck yet he is conveniently forgotten. Wonder why?

While Aguero clearly deserves it, it is slightly unfair pitting a £38m signing against a homegrown player such as Welbeck.

Welbeck doesn't try to stamp on players and break their legs?

Lots more things come into this other than stats. Welbeck's work rate and attitude are far superior to Balotelli. It's also the relative jump Welbeck has made in his career this year in comparison to Balotelli. I would far prefer to have Welbeck than Balotelli in my team at this current point in time. Balotelli is more naturally talented, though.
