Aer Lingus "Book your bags in advance" option.

    Hi,

I made a booking with Aer Lingus a couple of months ago. At that time I chose the "Plus Fare" for €40, which included the seat select and one checked bag.

Do I now need to use their "Book your bags in advance" facility to book in this one bag, or is all this already done?

I've checked in online, so is it a case (no pun intended) of just handing over the checked bag in the airport?

Sorry if this sounds fundamental, but it's been a long time since I have travelled with non-cabin baggage with an Irish airline.

    Thanks,

    G.

You have it right, just turn up and hand in the bag at the bag drop.

Sorry to hijack thread, but what happens at the Bag Drop? Does somebody just simply put a ticket on your bag and put it on the conveyor belt, or is it a longer process?

It strikes me as not being greatly different from a check-in process. They ask to see your boarding pass and your passport, and attach a baggage tag to the boarding pass. They generally, perhaps always, tell you which boarding gate is being used, and the scheduled time for boarding. How people who don't have bags to check ever find the plane is a mystery.

That'll be because we have the cop on to look at the huge screens that are placed everywhere in the airport that have flight details on them.

But perhaps not always enough cop-on to recognise irony.

I know this is not a great place to ask but maybe someone may just know the answer and will save another thread being opened!

I am flying to Germany soon and want to take my two motorcycle helmets, obviously I cant fit the two in my bag and i don't want to fork money for another bag at €9 euro extra a kilo if i don't need to....

Any help would be greatly appreciated ! ! biggrin.gif

    Thanks for that!

We have always travelled with Cabin Luggage only, but this year I decided to book a bag.
