Degree from outside Ireland

My (Polish) girlfriend has a Masters degree in Pedagogika. Basically masters degree in education, child care social work etc.

Since her English isn't perfect yet she wanted to start work as a classroom assistant here. How should she describe her degree? Is it there an equivalent here?
She never actually worked as a teacher in Poland because she did her placement as a psycologist/therapist in a Children's care home and came here straight after uni.

Is anyone on boards working with a degree from outside the British Isles?

If she has any intention of teaching at any time she would need to get her degree cleared and approved by the Teaching Council. This could take a while so she would be better to start now.

You say 'from outside the British Isles', she would have to go through this process with any degree other than one awarded in Ireland. I am not sure that the role of Classroom Assistant is available in Ireland, though I am willing to be corrected. She would also need Garda clearance to work with children.

The ''british isles'' shouldn't come into the equation. Good luck trying to get a teaching job because the Irish budget cuts aren't impressive to any prospective teacher. They simply aren't hiring right now.

Sorry I should have pointed out that we live in the North. There are a few classroom assistant/special needs assistant jobs about but not as many as before.
