Casual Signing and Job Bridge

I'm currently working part time (10 - 14 hrs approx) and have been casually signing for the days I don't work for at least the last year. The job I'm in now has nothing to do with my qualifications and has nothing got to do with what I'd really like to work at. Job Bridge seems to have quite a few postings in relation to the work I'm after.

I'm wondering can I apply for one of the placements even though I'm only casually signing or do I have to be in receipt of full JSB/JSA for the specified time period?

Any info would be a help, thanks.

I think you may have to be in full receipt of JSB or JSA, they're really strict on the placements. It seems unfair for someone like yourself alright who has a qualification but cannot gain the experience due to being part time employment.

Best thing to do is actually ring up jobbridge, there is a number on the website and also citizens advice and they should be able to give you a definite answer:)

I'm starting to think the whole scheme is unfair! Thanks though Amzie, I'll do that.

No you don't have to be in receipt of the full JSB/JSA to apply for an internship. I was working weekends in a bar when I applied for my Jobbridge internship and had no problems getting the internship.

I was also able to continue in my part-time job while on the scheme by continuing to send in my dockets weekly.

That would be great it I could. Still trying to get thought to my local social welfare office to confirm it for definite.

Nehemiah are you still in your internship right now? If your finished, did you find it beneficial? I've been reading a lot about these placements and people seem to have a negative experience with them.

    Thanks for the replies!

Yes I started it in November and it's a 9 month internship. It was in a government department so I've found it quite beneficial so far. I had a few options at the time and I chose that one on the basis that a government department would presumably have a role in mind.

I've had times with not much work coming towards me but in general it's being a beneficial experience and will (hopefully) look good on the CV.
