What was the first film you saw in the cinema??? I went with my older sister to see Return From Witch Mountain, 1978 I think! The queue was huge!

Was there only one screen? Did you bring a bag of sweets with you or were you posh and had money to spend there?

Wasn't long before I did my fair share of shiftin' in the cinema, in the double seats behind the people in steerage stalls!

Was early 90's was probably only 5 or so, have a very brief recollection. It was an animated movie there was some scene where there was a kid being chased by fire and all I remember is running out screaming, scared for my life. It was then decided I couldn't be taken to the cinema for quite a substantial amount of time after

Dumbo the flying elephant cartoon film as a 6 year old with my big sister (only 13 herself at the time lol) in the Odeon on Eden Quay - it was around 1981.:):o

Anyone else here remember the Odeon?

There used to be loads of cinemas in town - The Green, Adelphi, Carlton, Metropole, Odeon, Ambassador and Curzon.

All there is now is The Savoy, Parnell Cineworld and the art house IFI.

The Land Before Time, in the Town Hall Cinema in Galway in 1988 when I was four going on five.
It was a classic 80s Ireland cinema: the big screen and the small screen (though it might only have had one, but I'm sure there was two), concession stand on the way in with tayto and glass bottles of coke, and rats everywhere.

I still remember the film pretty well, and the packet of fruit gums that got all squished together and sticky in my pocket.

My favourite childhood memory of the cinema was seeing Jurassic Park in the slightly fancier Claddagh Palace in Salthill as an already dinosaur-mad nine-year old.
I remember queuing outside for what seemed like an eternity, and then being completely enraptured as I sat in the front row.
It was an absolutely amazing experience, and I think I was lucky to be the perfect age for it.

The Lion King in 1994. I bet some of you feel pretty old reading that, eh? I'll feel your pain once someone comes in with Finding Nemo or The Incredibles or some ****.

Can not remember the first film I saw but my earliest cinema memory is being brought to see Jurassic Park when I was around 5 or 6. Ran out of the cinema crying and was brought to see The Jungle Book instead.

Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat By the Lumière Brothers.

Oh I tell I ran screaming from the tent thinking the train was going to go right through the audience. I was so terrified I vowed never to look at that devils work again.
