so i am male 17 and on a learners permit looking for first insurance.
i am going on my own policy and not going under anyones name
could anyone tell me of a company that would give me insurance for less than €2500.
i was thinking about getting an opel combo van but because i am a student insurance companys willl not insure it for personal, social and domestic use.
the reason i want the van is i was going to sell turf during the year so would this be counted as commercial use and if anyone insured a van or commercial vehicle giving the insurance company this pupose please tell me the details thanks in advance.....

G'man, keep going until someone tells you to go ahead with what you're going to do anyway

Not a hope in hell you'll get insurance for under 2500 in your own name on a learners permit!
Why do you not want to go under your parents name anyway?

Not one contributor to this forum can advise you.

Unfortunately you have to do the donkey work and shop around. There are loads of websites/brokers who'll do the hard work for you.

    Good luck

Get the phone out and ring around only way your going to find out.

I know when i was 17 they were looking for €5000 on a 1litre corsa, so i waited until i was 25 :D Look into that 'drive-smart' course Axa are doing.. and you really need to rethink your first motor.. a van is not going to be easy to get insured on at your age.

Forget the van, it's just going to be a disaster trying to insure it at your age and without experience and a license.

Ring around, online brokers are pretty terrible for under 25s. I'm in the market for a car myself, and at 23 i spent days last week shopping around for the best quote, and got quotes ranging from 5000 all the way down to 900. The car is a focus ST, so i high quote was to be expected:D.

The point being that you need to shop around, and it will be tedious and frustrating, but it'll save you €€€

fair enough i ws thinking the same ..cant blame me for trying though...................................because all the young lads that go under their parents name drive around thinking they are great but if they hadto pay for there insurance they would be more careful and look after there cars and actually get some ncb when they are 17 not when they reach 21 and finally realise they are not mammys little boy anymore and have to go out and pay dear for insurance then after 3 or 4 years on the road and still have 0 ncb...thats why....thanks for answering

the van would be handy because i often get a days work here and there but i get what you are saying it is impossible toget insurance for the van .....and did you try britton insurance they are seriously cheap for beginners with a big size engine ...thanks

You asked for, and were given, the correct answers on the thread you started last week. There's nothing new on what you are asking here

Posting in any section on boards in the manner you did above will earn you a ban from that forum, it is completely unnecessary when people are just trying to help.

Also 'txt spk' is banned from boards.
