Is my phone knackered?

Hi all

Got given a damaged Galaxy Ace. Replaced the cracked LCD and the phone started fine. But when I tried my Meteor simcard I couldnt make calls or send txts - no signal showing at all. Updated to Gingerbread, rooted it and got the unlock code but still no joy. When I check Phone Status I find that My Phone Number and Network are showing as Unknown and Service State is marked as Out of Service.

Know that this phone was going to be booked to be repaired until the owner decided that the excess he had to pay was too much so he got a different phone.

So, is my phone blacklisted/blocked or what? Is still useable as a PDA but would love to have it working as a phone.

Anybody got any ideas?

You might get a more accurate (but technical) response from XDA forums.

Founds like messed IMEI or CSC code. Not sure since I dont have the phone nor have I had problems like this with my phone.

Is there an XDA forum here? Searched for ages here but found nothing that would help - which is a surprise. Or did you mean xda-developers.com forum? Sent almost the exact same message there but as yet no reply.

Since the problem might not be specific to your phone, you could probably post in a more general forum on XDA.
