If you don't cancel before the end of the 30 days you'll be on a recurring bill for the normal price (~€8 per month?).

Other than that, nope. The European selection is alot poorer compared to the American one.. which I have heard friends have been able to access here *cough*

Keep an eye on your broadband data usage, as we got nailed by a big bill last month so ended up upgrading our internet

Some broadband packages have a download limit, if you use netflix a lot then it wouldn't take much to go over it.

Nope no hidden charges. but im pretty sure they get a lot of people who forget to cancel before the 30 days, and there is a way to use the American Netflix which is a lot better, but i'm not sure if I can post it here as it may be illegal i've no idea?

New films are automatically better. There's a huge catalogue of films from arounfpd the world to watch. Plus, if you are viewing the US site then there are quite a few new films on there....Melancholia was only added during the week.

The catch is that the selection is quite ****e, and it will eat your monthly download allowance. Make sure you look into it before you go mad.

Half the time that in itself is a selling point :p Again, for what is on average a 20c a day service, how anyone gives out about it is beyond me.

One dvd rental from Xtra Vision versus a month of unlimited Netflix? Yeah, because there's a contest there.

The lack of brand new movies is the reason it's so cheap. It will get better as time goes on though, the american site gets some reasonably new stuff on it. Rango, Sleeping Beauty and Meloncholia are all on it now.

Netflix is alright, a bit limited in content and the lack of surround sound is shocking, iTunes will always be better for new releases etc, I canceled my Netflix after the free month

    Pro's and Con's of NetFlix.ie:

    Cons:
    • Content isnt that good compared to NetFlix USA.
    • If viewing NetFlix via a games console, xbox 360 in perticular, you must have a current Xbox Live Gold subscription. Which costs 19.99 for 3 months on top of your NetFlix sub. But! the PS3 doesnt charge any subscription fee to view apps like NetFlix. So all you need to pay for is your NetFlix sub. So depends on what console you use.

    Pros:
    • There are ways to view NetFlix USA ;) Especially handy to do this with a games console and leave that set to view NetFlix USA.
    • As it stands now, for paying a NetFlix sub of €7.99 per month you can get the best of US and UK netflix. Which is DEFINITELY worth it.

A yearly subscription can be had for about €30, & comes with other benefits.

Not anymore for consoles, at least, not for free.

Netflix (US) is all about the tv & documentary content. I'm watching Mad Men, Arrested Development, Sons of Anarchy and Friday Night Lights at the moment. Shows I never bothered with before but now see what all the fuss is about with each one. I also watch films that I would never rent or download. I recently watched Submarine a brilliant little British film that's better than all the poxy blockbusters out at the moment.

Nah nothing has changed, I just wasn't aware of a certain service. Bear in mind it's in Beta & won't always be free by the looks of it. Anyway, we're veering very close here to discussion of the method involved, which as we all know, isn't allowed so I'll stop here.

netflix.ie has a freaking awful selection and not one thought has been put into tailoring the extremely limited content for irish people. Dozens of Bollywood films, hardly any irish films. only a dozen anime too, they seriously need to step up their game, I wont be subbing until they have any kind of intelligible selection.

    Support Irish jobs!

And make sure to buy the popcorn.

I do wherever possible, but first I have to support myself. Netflix to me offers exponentially better value than Xtra Vision.

Netflix is crap IMO. I've used both the Uk and US store and the content isin't great.

Whatever you do don't use a 02 money card when paying for Netflix. They billed me twice in my month. I had to ring up Netflix earlier and cancel my account they said they'd put the 7 quid back into my account so happ days :)
