It is good that the writers have made provisions not to leave the fans hanging but it's a bit annoying that if Fox do cancel it that not all the loose ends be tied as per Lance Reddick but suppose that is to be expected. Considering the writers had the story planned for 6-7 seasons total to try to have to tie everything up in a minimum of 5 episodes it is great that they do have an endgame in mind.

Personally I think Fox should give Fringe 2 more seasons at 13 episodes, a la Mad Men which like Fringe has a very loyal and deidicated fan base but does not make as much money as studio hopes for. However looking at what Fox has renewed - American Idol, Bones etc it is clear they money over art is the name of the game.

Think we should get a 13 ep Season 5 finale though and they should make an announcment either way this week as all this hanging around is just getting annoying now.

If I remember correctly, the writers had 5 years planned not 7. So if they get another season, they will be able to end thing they way they wanted.

they always say that, but how many shows have you seem fall apart after 2 seasons,

A lot, and maybe they are being less than truthful, but all I have to go on, is what they said.

Here’s what Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman had to say during a conference call on Wednesday:

On the alternate endings that were apparently filmed, in case the show was picked up or axed:

Wyman: “No, we did not shoot an alternate ending. We thought about it, but we did not.”

On whether William Bell really is set to return to the fold following the reveal that he’s still alive:

Pinkner: “We basically erected a sign outside of Leonard’s house that says, ‘Please come back to Fringe,’ and we are hoping that by Season 5 he says yes.”
