I can start you on the entry 2 levels.
LX had aircon, front elec windows but black door handles and wing mirror covers and plastic steering wheel and gearknob.
Zetec added alloys, rear electric windows, sports suspension and body coloured handles and mirrors.
There was an Executive model that became the Ghia around 03, pretty sure this gave you leather, but can't remember the rest of the spec as I didn't order that many of them.

There were some steel and platinum special editions to which gave a few other extras on top of either LX or Zetec spec.

Nicely finished car, looks the part. A mondeo with that kind of mileage up on her would scare me though, diesel or not. Im think I'd want to be getting it a fair shot cheaper to justify the punt I'd be taking. That could well just be me though:)

its one of the nicest finished finished ones i can see for sale here. a set of factory xenons would finish it off. it is high millage but it has a lot of the big jobs done, turbo, injectors and clutch. i would much rather a darker leather interior.. i reckon you could use the millage to bargin down the price a good bit

Have you looked in the UK? They go for small money there. If you want something even better value Vectras are worth a look. Not as nicely finished though, and they can be a bit creaky with mileage.

I prefer saloons too. Having a bulkhead there stops road noise, rattles from the parcel shelf and stops flex a bit too I feel.

So do saloon versions, although there is a less rubber to perish in comparison to a hatch version of a similar vehicle.
