Recommendation/Whats Coming up in the Netbook/Ultrabook world in the next few months?

    Hi Guys,

Am in the market for an upgrade to my current netbook.

Have been using my HP Pavilion DM1 since it came out last year.

It's AMD Vision processor which was a step up from my previous HP netbook with Atom/Ion but I'm thinking of possibly upgrading again.

I'd like the idea of something a little more powerful with a SSD while still keeping things light and power consumption low (current set-up uses 20w!) While the 11.6" screen is grand if you could fit a larger one into a similar form factor that would be good also. Also like the idea of silent operation or as close to it as possible, the fan from the HP often annoys me!

I like the look of the Dell XPS 13 but it seems to be massively overpriced like a lot of "Ultrabooks" It also seems to only have 2 USB slots and no HDMI out (I use the HP as my daily computer at my desk so need 3+ USB slots (keyboard, mouse and flash drive) and a HDMI out for my monitor.

Just wondering if you guys could recommend anything out there that would be a step up from what I have while while not really expensive.

Am finding it had to find out if there are any new processors on the way they I should hold off for? I'm quite happy with my current set up so don't mind holding on if there's going to be something better on the way in a few months.

Any advice suggestions would be much appreciated!

    Thanks

What's hard about looking up "Ivy Bridge"? They'll be here soon. ;)

If you're not in hurry, the wait should be worth your while.

Thanks, I knew I remembered reading something about an unusually named processor.

Are the current ultrabook processors: core i3, i5 etc Sandybridge? Just trying to get my head around the Wikipedia article on it:)

    Is June the release date?

I'm going away for the month of August so getting something before then would be good.

    Thanks again!

Core iX and the different microarchitectures:

    1st generation: Nehalem
    2nd generation: Sandy Bridge
    3rd generation Ivy Bridge

June sounds realistic, performance improvement remains to be seen as there are no real world benchmarks available. We should see some great 2 gen Core iX bargains then, they're coming down in price already.
