My last 3 (and only 3!!) cars.

97 Citroen Saxo 1.1 (with VTR interior/alloys) My first car, I loved this little baby, even drove it to Amsterdam and back once. She quare shook on the French/Belgian motorways tipping the ton!

99 Suzuki Baleno 1.6 GS (hatchback) GSR styling, English import, great little motor. Nippy as most similar Civics etc, and never gave a day's trouble.

02 Audi A3 Sport 1.9TDi Redeye. My current car and a definite step up in refinement on the other two. Only 66k on the clock, don't plan on changing it any time soon.

    Sorry no pics!

    1.) For 7 years, ultra-reliable & efficient. V. slow.

    200316.JPG

2.) For the last year or so. 2.0 turbo petrol, much faster :)

    200322.jpg

3.) tbc... Back to diesel! :)

    99 Audi A4 1.6
An absolute dog, dealer saw me coming and an expensive lesson.

    98 Rover 618L
Really liked this, leather, air-con, quick enough considering it was the smallest engined version of the 600 and the best handling I'd had since my first car (a 97 Civic 1.4).

    99 Corolla 1.3
Ugly, boring and more than a few scratches and scrapes but tough as old boots, very reliable and has currently given me almost 30,000 miles for a cost of €500 and maintenance costs of under 400.

I used to love that Rover coupe, thought it was very stylish.

Unfortunately I can't post any pucs. I've only had three cars and still ave 2 of them:

    1. Vauxhall Signum 1.9 cdti (120) in silver, purchased with 20 miles on the clck on the day I passed my test (30 January 08). Great bargain as just discontinued. Drove it over to Ireland 3 days after buying it. Had never previously driven on a motorway, nor at night (left London at 1am) nor with a drunk in the passenger seat. Traded it in for car no 3 in July 2011.

    2. Mini Cooper S Coubman in dark grey silver. Fully loaded ex demo model bought with 8,000 on the clock. Became daily driver (3 mile commute) and still have it. Haven't driven it that much in last 8 months (maybe 300 miles) until yesterday when I drove over to Dublin. Forgot how much I love it on long drives. Smooth acceleration, feels go kart like.

    3. Range Rover Supercharged 4.2V8 bought last July; late 2005 model with 38,000 miles only. Buckingham Blue with two tone navy/cream interior. Great car, complete contrast to the others. Thought it'd be a nightmare around the city but actually easy to park. Loaded with all toys. Have done nearly 10,000 miles in 8 months. Heading off on 3 week road trip next week, maybe another 3,000 miles. Very heavy on petrol, otherwise no other spends (apart from 45,000 mile service).

Not a very exciting list, but

    00 Mitsubishi Lancer 1.4

Nice car, probably needed a bigger engine for the size of it though. Liked it enough that I was going to trade up a few years to another one, until the dealer pointed out a car he had just gotten in

    99 BWM 316I Estate 1.6

No idea at the time why I ended up going back a year, but glad I did. Loved that car, next one will be something of that ilk. Actually if I found my 99, I'd buy it back. Anyway thought it was heading towards needing some pricey maintenance work, so moved onto

    05 Mazda 6 1.8

Can't really fault it at all, but it is when all is said and done, a mid-range saloon.

    My last three:

'88 Citroen AX GT. I bought it for €250, along with a scrapper. The car really was a rat-rod, in that the paint was faded into 10 different shades of white with plenty of rust stains. There was no carpets, sound deadening or power steering. The doors didn't seal, the sunroof didn't seal and the starter solonoid had a mind of its own. I gave that car some death, using it for night navigation trials and using coke to clean an oil leak off the clutch. I should never have sold it.....

'77 Ford Escort 1.3 2 door Ghia. The car is a keeper. It has less that 60k from new, full service history and its original 1.3 GT spec engine rebuilt. It only comes out on dry days, or the odd classic rally. When presented with an ultimatum "it's me or the car!", I took the car.....

'05 Nissan Almera. It's the daily motor. Yes it's boring, but it's reliable with over 200k on original clutch, shocks and brake discs. It gets a fair hammering setting out rally and night nav routes. I'll keep it until it falls apart.

Edit - I recently took a half share in a '97 Starlet for Multi Venue Autotests and Endurance events, but that doesn't really count....

03 VW Golf (1.4 petrol) - fairly basic

03 Audi A4 (1.9 Diesel) - UK Import but basic enough

06 BMW 320 Coupe (2.0 Diesel) - have this 4+ years and still driving it happily enough. It's depreciated so much since I bought it that I reckon I've taken most of the hit at this stage so I'll keep it another few years unless it gives me trouble.

Only when I'm on my own.... I have taken her to all the locations where they filmed Mad Max & there was a bit of day dreaming going on those days I'll admit

This is the exact spot where we first see Max working on the 4 door MFP Falcon
