Opel Vectra (1.6) 2001 Problem!

    Hey,

    I have a 1.6 Opel Vectra 2001 with a few probs.. I'll try and keep this short!

    About a month ago it was driving fine and the petrol light had just come on and within 2 minutes the car had cut out on me as soon as I came to stop at a junction. It started straight away, so I filled it up with petrol and it worked fine.

    2 weeks ago had the exact same thing happened and again it was working fine when I put petrol in it, until now that is!

    2 days ago I was driving it no problem whatsoever, parked it up for the night, petrol light WASN'T on. So yesterday I started it, but straight away it was very sluggish and shaky, I had to keep reving the engine to keep it ticking over, but as soon as I took my foot off the accelerator it just cut out, but there were no warning signs on dash! I thought it might be low on juice (even though the fuel light wasn't on) so I got 7 litres into a can, put it into the car and hey presto it started straight away and was ticking over nicely on its own. I assumed if I kept the petrol up over half way from now on that I'll have no problems!!

    However, I went out to the car this morn and started it straight away, but again it was very sluggish, had to keep it revved, as soon as I took my foot off pedal it cut out, also good bit of smoke coming from exhaust! Still no warning lights on dash..

    Anyone have any ideas? Maybe I wasted the 12 euro of petrol in the tank when maybe I should have poured it over the car!!!
