How to wash a blanket that's not colourfast?

I just spent ages knitting a blanket for a friend's baby. I went to wash a small mark out of a white panel on the blanket and had some colour run from a coloured panel. I tried to rinse just the tiny bit that had dye on it but it just leaked even worse. It's got two large white panels and then several smaller really vibrant coloured squares.
Any advice for how to make it presentable again?
    Thanks a million!

Sorry to say I don't hold out much hope for it, but it might be worth trying one of those colour catcher products.

    that's what I fear!
It's acrylic - it's just the green and blue panels that don't seem to be colourfast. I might just remove those. Otherwise, I'll just keep it for myself and if it goes off colour it goes off colour! I'd just feel bad giving as a gift as was intended if it's gonna be completely impractical.

Non-colourfast acrylic yarn is a bit unusual these days, though its always a bit dodgy mixing strong colours with white.

It’s really tough to clean out some stain from yarn, wishing you luck.

So as not to waste it you could stitch an appliqué on top. See a few scattered about so it's not obvious maybe

Thanks for your advice everyone! I've kinda decided to just leave it and hold on to it. I feel like even if I manage to get the stains out or cover them up it will be a completely impractical item for a baby cos it'd go off colour whenever it was thrown in the wash. Ah well! I'm just hoping that my red yarn doesn't run cos I also knit a set of clothes in red and white!
