    Hi all,
What would you do in my position?
    2 weeks ago I bought a 2005 ford 1.6 c max (zetac) from a dealer in Dublin 18.
But I am starting to think I have been stung. So far I have put in €210 in petrol!!! For example, I drove from Sandyford to Clondalkin and back and it used nearly a quarter tank?
We have a 3 month guarantee with it ( engine).
They say it has been fully serviced etc.

Have I leg to stand on if I want to give it back to them?? I have already taxed it for the year:(
Female poster here ( I think thats important to note :))

If you are working it out correctly, those figures are fantastic.

    €210 @ €1.68/ litre = 125 litres

Any 1.6 petrol in just city driving..... expect max 30mpg

    125 litres = 27 gallons x 30mpg = 826 miles.

If you put on anything over 750 miles or 1200km, its perfect

    Fill the tank.

Do a trip to somewhere and back.

Note how far you went in miles and fill the tank again.

Tell us price of petrol and how much went in

    Report back with results

That doesn't sound too bad, depending on conditions. Brim the tank, and zero the trip meter. When you refill you'll then know how many litres the car took and how many kms you covered - report back with those figures and we'll take it from there.

Hi again, since yesterday I drove 90 miles (mainly motorway) which used €19 worth of petrol.
I suppose that's not bad after all

That would be about right. Maybe because you were getting used to a new car your driving wasn't as smooth as normal so you used more fuel.

I doubt anythings wrong with the car, get someone to have a quick look at the spark plugs and oil to verify its been recently serviced. Also check the pressure in all your tyres so they are inflated correctly. Little things like that can have a dramatic effect on mpg.
