Confusion regarding vehicles categories..

Hey! Passed my theory on Tuesday and I'm applying for my Permit today. On my theory certificate it says I'm eligible to drive vehicle categories B (cars under 3500kg) and W (works vehicles).

Now, the category EB is car and trailer. Given that every other category with an E in it is just a trailer extension, I'm wondering whether EB is a subcategory of B?

Basically am i eligible to drive a EB vehicle if i can drive a B?

I'm asking because, on my Permit form (D.201) I'm given a list of categories and I fill out which ones I'm applying for. If i have a BW theory test, should i tick B and W or B, EB and W?

    Thanks guys :)

Unfortunately no. In order to drive EB you must pass your B driving test and then you can apply for an EB learner permit. You do know you can tow a trailer on a full B as long as the trailer+Load is under 750kg.

The good news is that the RSA abolished the 6 month waiting rule for the EB test, so you can apply for you EB test as soon as you pass your B test.

So on your LP all you need to tick is B+W.

Thanks :) Wasn't too bothered about it anyway, it was just a matter of 'if Im eligible then why not?'. Not gonna do the EB test :pac:

    Thanks again
