intestacy and renounciation

Hi can anyone advice what would happen if the spouse of the deceased has a solicitor send out renounciation of inheritance letters to all issue ( intestate ) hoping for the entire estate to then fall to the spouse , but a minority of the issue do not sign but instead proceed to claim their inheritance.
