Quite impressive. Trap really has done a great job.

This was always likely to happen as the results from the Stan era are now fully gone.

And heres me thinking we would always be the "33rd" team ;)

LOL at Norn Iron being 100th, it'll be tricky for Mick O'Neill to get above those mighty Antiguan's.

Disgraceful really that we're 3rd seeds in the World Cup qualifier groups.

Trapp is useless. Never gave ball players like Andy Reid or Wes Hoolahan a chance. And what about the likes of Stokes and McCarthy. Chancer. Rubbish football too, hope we get destroyed in the Euros and he gets the boot.

I hope we win the euros and a statue is erected in his honour!

Seems to be a common thread with Andy Reid, every manager he plays under eventually seems to think hes **** and not play him.

2 Statue's! one for Trapp & one for Chequebook man Denis O'Brien. I know Enda would back me on that one....

Ah jog on. The man gets results. We haven't been in a major tournament for 10 years, and it's nearly 3 decades since we've been in the Euros. We mightn't play like Spain but I don't really care. I'd give up style for results, and yet again that's exactly what he gets.

What a summer we have ahead of ourselves and here you are complaining.

It's on the interwb somewhere and it's totally mathematical

At the moment the rankings are viewed as being accurate around here beacuse Ireland are up in them and England are down.

    The rankings mean nothing!

In fairness, what good teams has he played. Italy were ****e (they got beat my new zealand at the world cup didn't they?), france are terrible (did belarus beat them at home too?) Russia, got dominated away and lost at home.

So what good teams did he actually play?

haha i love irish fans who are bitter when we do well.
We can only play what's in front of us, and for the most part, this is something we do quite well.

Great for Ireland even though the rankings won't give any immediate benefit. Maybe if it holds, it'll do the team good in a future draw.

NI continue to spiral ever downwards into the murky end of world football, in the company of African countries with corrupt governments, whose societies are often split along tribal or religious lines and inconsequential territories who's constitutional status has historically been a point of debate and/or are a drain on their ruling country's economy.

Meh, Greece are 6 places above Mexico in the rankings, if there was a world cup draw I'd rather face Greece.

It's tough being Greece. They've qualifed for 4 or the last 5 tournaments, winning three qual groups and posting a qual record of w36-d10-l8. They've even managed to win a tournament during that period. Yet people still don't take them very seriously.

Only 2 places behind France now

Let's be honest. Andy Reid is awful. Stokes is not better than we already have and McCarthy is young and has been given a chance and will be given further chances. Wes is unlucky not to fit in Trap's system. That is it. I'd rather be where we are now with our current players than not to have qualified with these players.

But they still have a permanent seat on the committee that oversees the rules of football !
