    Hi,

This has prob been asked before sorry if so., I am on the lookout for a tv that can receive ntl analogue , saorview and freesat(dish) HD. I havent a clue what to look out for. Is there such a thing.
I saw a samsung Model : UE32ES6300UXXU in Powercity but the price is very steep and the model is a smart tv . I don't want a smart tv just the ntl analogue , saorview and freesat(dish). Also it doesnt say whether it has analogue tuner.

    Thanks in advance

    Doesn't exist.

UPC (NTL) analogue is rubbish, will end long before a new TV is old and is more expensive than UPC digital.

You are better with an external setbox for "Freesat HD" or "Freesat+ HD".

Currently most Saorview certified TVs have an analogue tuner. It's not needed for UPC.

To be fair Watty UPC analogue, in most places, has a few pay channels not available on Freesat nor Saorview, such as discovery, MTV etc.

As to the Original posters problem, Freesat will not allow a box to be certified with Saorview so there may never be a TV that does Freesat and Saorview and carries both stickers.

Nearly all TV's with integrated Saorview or FreeVIEW have an analogue tuner for UPC analogue. However most seperate boxes for Saorview ETC do NOT have an analogue tuner built in, but you may be able to use the TV's tuner and hook this to UPC.

The nearest you can get is a TV with built in DVB-T2 (which probably can get Saorview) and a TV with build in DVB-S2 (which can view most FreeSat Channels)

This is what is being discussed on this thread:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056508692

It's explained in the thread but to summarise you lose the auto-channel sorting and auto-retuning features. Generally a seperate "combo" box is cheaper and better, but still have limitations.

Thanks for the replies , but I really dont want to install another box, the old lcd tv is on the wall and I have a satellite 3 coax cables wired to it that i can direct to saorview ntl and satellite. I would have to replaster etc as i doont want to run a cable up the wall, to run a new box also i do watch ntl analogue as it has discovery e.t.c. ( could do without ) i suppose if i had saorview and hd freesat built in to tv

There are NO TVs that have Freesat tuners and work properly with Saorview.
If you want Saorview built in on a TV you need a box for Freesat.
If you want UPC(NTL) sooner rather than later you will need a box from UPC.

What some people do is to hide a box away somewhere (other side of room/attic etc) and use a remote eye fitted on the LCD TV.

This sends the remote control signals back down the cable to the box elsewhere.

Something like the triax tri-link would allow you to have a set top box hidden away. The main drawback is it can be fiddly to install, will not supply a high definition signal to the TV (unless you install a new HDMI cable) but it will allow the box/boxes to be hidden.

You may also be able to hide the very slim new boxes directly behind the LCD itself.

On the first link earlier is some models that do satellite and terrestrial.

Thanks zg , eye sounds good but would like to get hd. your idea of a slim new box sounds good , hadnt thought of that as there is a couple of inches gap between the bracket.
Thanks for that , I was looking at this samsung Model : UE32ES6300UXXU in powercity and its saorview approved and satellite tuner built in but in's nearly 700 euro!

Yes the powercity unit looks good:

It probably DOES NOT have a analogue tuner (it seems to be an option on that model)

But yes, it is very expensive.

Personally I would prefer a TV with built it FreeSat proper that gives the 7 day TV guide which is handy for recording. With any all in one TV you need to compromise. In my opinion more suitable for a bedroom rather than the main living room as you need to be able to connect DVD player, games consoles, digital boxes, recording boxes etc.

The idea of a flat screen on the wall with all wires hidden seems like a good idea , until you try play a DVD or want to upgrade the tuner or add live pause. In my book I use a TV as a display device, with everything else connected to it, you could pay for replastering cheaper than that TV.

Its a great shame that LG stopped producing the LF7700 series instead of upgrading it. If you can get hold of a second hand one, it would be worth it. Its mostly compatable with Saorview, and has Freesat and analogue tuners. I have mine on the wall with power and dish/aerial sockets behind it and no trailing cables

No problem, was looking for a similar solution myself.

Here's the manual if you fancy a look.

    Dimensions:
    W: 102mm, D: 70mm, H: 18mm

You put a conduit big enough for power, coax, optical and HDMI(s) and SCART otherwise a pointless exercise.
