Yep I did this one before, one of the highlights for me last year. Really good race. There a good mix of terrain with some tough climbs and some incredible views. There were a few problems last year with a late start and route marking, some people ended up taking a big short cut. Problems should be cleared up this year I'd say.

Cant wait for this years race:) I'd definitely recommend it.

Very tempted but with my legs still aching after the Bray Head IMRA race on Wednesday, I'm not sure my fitness would be sufficient.

Any idea what sort of times it took people to complete? Was thinking of walking the uphill sections and jogging the rest..

Heres the results from last year. Going by the times it took by some people to complete it I'd say a fair few of them walked the uphills, so you wouldnt be alone.

Bray head is the steepest climb of the three I'd say, the other two are longer and higher so it would be easier to keep up a constant jogging pace while climbing them. The very last bit before the summit of the sugar loaf is the bit where even the best climbers will have to walk.

    Cheers for that.

One more question. Do you know how well marked the course is? I'm not at all familiar with that area.

Is it an easy course to follow?

Looks like a decent route across the 3 points.

All the major turns etc were well marked. And there were plenty of volunteers on hand at the trickier bits. The marking would be similar to the IMRA race markings with red tape indicating turns etc IIRC. As I said above a few people somehow managed to take a shortcut, but I've no idea how they went wrong!

As the field got a bit spread out and I was running on my own there were a couple of times when I was thinking 'am I going the right way?' but I was always on the right track.

So so tempted but haven't done any decent distances recently.

The longest run I've done this year was around 10k in the Cooleys on Good Friday and I was sore for a week!

I am planning on doing the race in two weeks, I was wondering where the 3 water stations and 1 food station are to be located?

IIRC there were only two water stops last year. The first water stop was about 3 miles in just after you cross the R761 going towards the little sugar loaf. The second water stop had gels also (food?) and was about 8 miles in on Glencap Commons road just before you start heading up the sugar loaf.

    Anyone on here do it?

Had toyed with the idea but really hadn't enough training done so decided against it but it's one I hope to do next year.

Yeah very enjoyable and very challenging run. Seemed harder than last year for some reason! There were a couple of problems with markings, a couple of people went the wrong way which was unfortunate. But other than that it was excellent. I had to leave just after the finish so didnt get a chance to use the glenview facilities provided or the 'pasta party'

Enjoyable tough route I was one of the people that took a wrong turn and added an extra couple of k onto the end of the race markings at the bottom of the sugar loaf where not good only just calmed down now but will do it again next year to make ammends

Super race, Great course. The last 400 metres were heartbreaking.
