Just insight into the RBC Heritage

Designed by Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus, Harbour Town Links measures just 6’973 yards making the course short by modern standards but due to the clever placement of trees, bunkers and small greens this is a fantastic test for the players. Renowned as a shot maker’s golf course with precision needed from the tee and approach shot, to work your way through the trees and attack small, well guarded greens. Experience also plays a key role here, Davis Love III has five career victories here, Boo Weekley and Stewart Cink have a couple each and others such as Luke Donald and Jim Furyk have great records here.

Looking back through leaderboards of years gone by, it becomes clear that two attributes reign above all others at Harbour Town; accuracy off the tee and a sharp short game. Last year’s winner Brandt Snedeker ticked both boxes and eventually prevailed in a playoff with current world number 1, Luke Donald.

It’s no great surprise to see Donald heading up the market here for the second consecutive year. He clearly loves Harbour Town, and it’s the type of track where he will expect to contend year after year.

Harbour Town is renowned for having some of the smallest greens on the PGA tour (averaging just over 3,700 square feet per green). On this basis, you would expect players who rank highly in Greens in Regulation to be the ones to watch. However, last year’s result will tell you that all players are going to be missing greens on this track, so it’s equally about scrambling ability.

So my tips for this week are all e/w

Jim Furyk 2010 winner here Furyk is player in cracking form, just 1 top 10 this season, but 3 tied 11th finishes show how consistent he has been, as well as the win in 2010 Furyk has 3 other Top 5 finishes here since 2005. Furyk was in the Top 50 of every statistical category and is 1st in driving accuracy, 3rd in proximity to hole and 39th in strokes gained putting for the season which are very important here

Kevin Na He is a player I have been keeping tabs on all year and his record at Heritage is actually decent. He finished tied 15th last week at Masters and has had 2 top 10 finishes here from 5 starts. Na is one the best players on tour with the putter and I think this may be the week he will deliver

Fredik Jacobson Gone the distance in the Heritage in each of the last four seasons and has managed to secure four top-25s overall. Three top-20s in 2012 include a decent 19th at Augusta last week.

Harris English – He is going to remain my Scott Stallings for this year and I am going to say that this kid will win a event by end of 2012 you heard it here first:D. English ranks 28th on tour in Strokes Gained – Putting and 14th in Birdie Average, and will feel comfortable on Bermuda greens which he grew up playing. It’s also near where he grew up too even if this is his first start here so he may well feel at home.

got to fanct Brian Davis big time this week, tied 4th in his last 2 starts on tour on courses that probably don't suit as much as Hilton head does.
The secret to his recent form has been his putting,if he keeps it up this week he won't be far away.
Only for a bad 74 here last year in the second round he would have contended.Finished just outside the top 20.
I'm sure everyone remembers the incident where he called a penalty on himself allowing Furyk to take the title.
Well this week it's payback for Davis, think 50/1 is a decent price.
Going to add Simon Dyson @40/1 in Malaysia.
I like Dyson, you get the impression that when he gets into contention he's not really thinking of the cheque like Charles Howell etc,he want's the win and he trys like f***.
    Both e/w and a greedy e/w double.

Absolutely adore The Heritage at Hilton Head, just a wonderful shot makers course with a premium on accuracy and not length.

Funny enough Furyk, Davies and Na are being tipped across the board elsewhere.

Gone for the following three myself -

    Furyk @ 18/1
    Baddeley @ 28/1
    Na @ 33/1

Seen that too. Little surprised with NA getting so many picks alright, not so about other 2.

BO Van Pelt is another been mentioned a lot, just think his price is bit too skinny for me.

I'm going to go on previous course form alone in the Heritage this week.

    Nick O'Hern (125-1) 6th last year. 8th in 2010.
    Ricky Barnes (90-1) 4th last year. 5th in 2010.

In europe I think Coetzee can finally win an event. There are sure to be a few masters hangovers about the place this week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 123 ✭✭rehssu

    Heritage - Freddy @ 50/1
    Malaysia - Alajandro Canizares @ 60/1

Both e/w and and e/w double

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 815 ✭✭✭todolist

Heritage Webb Simpson 22/1 with P.P Go for the win.
    Sean O'Hair 50/1 with P.P.Do him e/w

Malaysian Open Alvaro Quiros 33/1 P.P .Great e/w bet.

Had a lousy Masters tournament so hopefully back to winning ways with the above.

was going to skip this week, but with my old favorite J M Singh starting so well shooting -7 (and that's with pars on the two 510 yard par 5s, and the two 330 yard par 4s), had to plough in at 16/1.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,943 ✭✭✭abouttobebanned

You ploughed into J M Singh? Jaysus. That takes bravery.

I dont think I will have anything like luck I had last year though.

Hope you have profitable weekend to mate

3 out of 4 still in with chance, but Jacobson replaces Furyk who had a mare of a round.

Will lay 3 of them if still in contention by end of tonight to make profit going into last day at worst.

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

Ah the days where Furyk was Mr. Reliable for a top 10 finish if not top 5.

    C'mon Na!

    Front two pulling away.

only playing for place money now.

be disappointed if I cannot get least one place though.

3 players tied for 8th and another who shot 81!!!!

which is disappointing as no money for that.

Took chance not to lay in play, but hindsight is wonderful too.

Ah well roll on next week.

Well done to anybody who won or made profit this weekend

    Yeah, did him each way.
You were unlucky. I nearly backed Furyk myself, but johnson was bigger price, so went with him.

8/1 Matt Kuchar with PP is favourite.

Could be week for nice price winner.

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

Never would have had Petterson in mind to win around there. Fair play to him, from the coverage I did see last night. Very much in control of his game.

Kuchar hasn't a hope this week, a place maybe at best.

8/1 is extremely short price and no value at all.

He should be 14-16/1 for this.

He best player in field, but not that much better

Aye, that and he isn't really a winner as such. His one win in recent years came courtesy of Laird messing up 18 in one of the playoff events () a couple of years back.
