Its a great track, quite long and tricky but always in great condition. I'm playing it Wednesday morning, €15 before 9am = great value! I'll let you know how its playing...

Played it 1 week ago. Lovely course, greens were just sanded, fairway were great. Played off the greens at 6600yds. Long as the wind will alway effect each shot it is open to the elements.

Cool cheers let me know how she is, greens should be perfect by the time i get there in 2 weeks :)

Played it this morning and its coming into peak condition. There is still a good deal of sand on the greens but it should be well washed in over the next week. Fairways, tee boxes etc. are all perfect. Knightsbrook offers exceptional value for money and is definitely worth trying out.

Ya, it will be perfect by then. Its a fairly generous course off the tee & you can open the shoulders on most holes. It is, however, long as f*ck!!!

Ah cant be much in it distance wise with her and Mount Wolseley so not worried there, tight holes and pins and other things like that affect scoring more i reckons :D Looking forward to giving her a burst

Played there a week ago & was a very enjoyable round. Greens were not 100% but fairly close to it. It was fair off the tee, and all of the par 3s involve water. It's an interesting run in finishing par 3,5,3

I'd say you'll have a very enjoyable day out, and the grub was good in the clubhouse afterwards too!

played wednesday evening off the whites, beautiful course, greens a bit grainy following work but should be spot on by the time you play. Good test but open enough off tee. Got out at 5:30 for 15quid and got 18 in in a 2 ball, played well so eager to head back.

How did you get it for €15? Teetimes?

    €80 on their website

just arrived on spec and asked for a price, the lad there was kind enough to give us a very decent rate. Given that it was pushing towards half 5 with a few showers, he may have thought we wouldn't get the 18 in.... we did. As a GUI member, I wouldn't pay over the odds to play any course, not in the boom and certainly not now. Off topic, played tralee last weekend in JSC for 35, their website says 180

Played here saturday, monster course, way too long for me! I thought the greens were really poor, slow and very bumpy.

Did you play it. How were the greens? Weetabix didn't think much of them. I'm due to play on Wednesday 2nd May - disappointed to hear the greens bumpy.

thats a pity, and I agree with you, greens were only ok yesterday. You think its a monster? Wait until you play if from the back tees. We did yesterday in the monthly medal. CSS was 77, winner had a net 71, second was 75.....

    animal.

Nialed a drive and 3 wood on one of the par 4's and still was about 20 yards short!! Granted it was into a very strong wind....I think I will give the back tees a miss for now!

What tees did you play off? I was planning to play off the greens but ben1977 says they are 6600 which seems very long for the shortest tees. The course is going to play extra long tomorrow anyway after the rain on Sunday and more today. Can anyone tell me the yardages of each of the tees. Id like a decent test for the par 3's cos sometimes the forward tees ruin these holes. Par 4s that are reachable with long iron second shots or five wood is fine (not driver, 3 wood and then some).

Bit of a beast alright :) Hopefully the weather will be good for saturday

they are a very good challenge off the whites, the green tees are a tiny bit forward, but even if you stick it miles out there, you might have one wedge into a par 4 (probably only the 10th with a monster drive) , mostly you are looking at 7 irons back to 3 woods.....for the mid handicapper with a 240/250 yard average drive.

thats the difficultly level, sure its open, but you need to be long and straight for the doglegs.

they are a very good challenge off the Greens too !! Might strugle to hit 240/250 drives unless the course drys quickly for tomorrow. More like 220/230 in the conditions. It'll be tough but as long as it's dry :D

Christy O'Connor Jnr designs great courses but length off the tee seems to be a prevalent feature; K'brook, Mt Wolseley, Concra, Headfort, R'town etc...Personally, I'd take Rathcore over them all.

Played off the greens but it was very windy.

Just done a comparsion there, the average Par 4 in knightsbrook from greens is 400 yards v 341 from whites on my normal course.....no wonder I found it long!

love rathcore, but couldnt take it over Concra or Headfort New. The others its a toss up. I love playing rathcore, I'd probably take it over my own course if I lived closer.
