VW Passat - Rear Parking Light PROBLEM

    Hi,

The right rear parking light isn't working on my 2005 B6 passat.

    Things I've tried so far:

    - Changing the Bulb
    - Swaping over the bulb housing. Tried the one on the opposite side which works and it didn't work when I switch it over.
    - Checking the fuses (only one fuse for both reverse lights on a b6 passat)

So I've eliminated the bulb housing and bulb as modes to failure. Any other ideas what it could be or how i would go about diagnosing it?

    Thanks

If you have swapped the bulb housing over and it works, then looks like wiring. Check the connection block and make sure all wires are push in as tight as possible. Back track as far as you can and look for any breaks or place where the cable could snag.

First thing first, check fuses, on some cars RH/LH are often fused seperately (not sure about passats).
If fuses ok, check if there's power in the connector block supplying the cluster. You might have to trace the printed circuit on the cluster or do a bit of trial and error until you find the correct wire feeding the tail light.

The rear parking lights on the B6 are LED clusters and you cannot remove them..

Thanks guy, I checked the fuse. From the manual its says there is only one fuse for the reverse lights. The manual for fuses is pretty because its made for left hand drive cars, and there is a fuse box on the left and right side of the car, both are different shapes so it makes things quite confusing. I eventually figured out which one was for the reverse light throught trial and error. Took it out and sure enought the left one wouldn't work so must be the right one. It seemed fine. So thats the fuse eliminated. Must be something with the wiring alright!
