Have you been to a motorfactors or any of the specialist German parts suppliers? GSF? Otto?

What's the problem your having with the EGR? Are you certain that the valve has failed and that it or the EGR pipes aren't blocked?

    www.gsfcarparts.com

    www.otto.ie

Diagnostics could show either fault, do you know what the actual fault was?

You wouldn't believe how many EGR valves are replaced when they don't need to be just because the fault description had the word EGR in it somewhere.

It depends on what the fault is telling you. EGR valve/control circuit faults indicate a fault with the valve itself, EGR flow faults can often be fixed by cleaning out the valve and pipes.

OP, I had to source an egr valve a few weeks ago for a 02 1.4 VW Golf.
    Main dealer €225+
GSF were approx half the above.
    theairflowmetercompany on Ebay; €96 delivered.

Just make sure you have the right part number!
