    Cavity Wall Insulation
Apologies if this has been asked before

I have recently added an extension to my house with kingspan in cavity and insulated slab inside plus triple glazing.

Problem is the existing house built in 2001 just has 100mm cavity with white areoboard and leaving new extension to original house is like going from oven to a fridge.

what is my best option to improve insulation in original house (bungalow)

I was thinking of blown cavity insulation. The questions I have are
    1. What is the best method of above
    2. Have you found it sucessful
    3. What is the cost per sq ft/m
    4. Any recommendations for suppliers in Cork/Limerick/Kerry area

    thanks

    Hi,
We had the same problems in my mothers house 4 years ago where old part of house had damp cold walls and was impossible to heat.

10 years before that we put blown insulation into the cavity wall which had no affect as heat was still being lost through the wall.

A friend of mine is a plasterer and he recommended getting internal insulation panels and buying the thick Kingspan type (i think) which he put in, he plastered the wall after and added new window sills as new wall was thicker. We got HPS group to put attic insulation in to prevent any heat loss through ceiling. No External insulation was needed and front of house was not touched.

Its a new room and now the warmest part of the house ! I also know it was'nt that expensive.
If interested, phone me on 0862263628 and I can give you my friends number who can do the internal work or check out HPS Group on www.hpsgroup.ie.

Hope this is of help. (Cork Area)

    thanks for that.

My original house is not cold and damp and it is fairly warm its just when you realise what more insulation is like you would like to upgrade your original house.

But I would not be going for internal insulation
