Nobody here can enlighten me as to the logic behind lugging a big bag around a course instead of using a trolly?

To keep the answer short, trolleys are a pain in the arse.Even if trolleys were allowed they would still carry.

Some courses have full ban on trolleys for all players, e.g Bethpage

Less damage to the course. Also, with a bag, the caddy can walk where he likes without being hampered by dragging a trolley around the place!

I dont think there is a general rule against using trolleys as I recall some of the struggling tour players have used their wives / girlfriends to pull a trolly ........ it makes sense in many ways as more kit can be accommodated, but it needs some of the bigger stars to start a new trend.

Its a bit like golf shoes, once Freddie Couples wore the ecco walking shoes .... more followed and at the masters there was plenty not wearing standard golf shoes.

Although theres no doubt if they took off, it would no be long before we would see Padraig's Golf Glider / Powercaddy with 'optilase' or some other sponsor spread across it ;)
