Anybody do a test in Rathgar

I'm looking at where to book a test. I could do it in Dublin or Limerick. In Dublin I'd probably do it Rathgar centre, and that might be more conveninet than Limerick. But the pass rates are very different - Rathgar appears to have one of the lowest rates in the country. Anybody do a test there, and have any opinions on why that is?

I can't offer an opinion on either location, but do the test wherever you can do the most practice. A very high level of familiarity with all the little "quirks" of the locality is essential. If you get a good local instructor, they can often take you around pretty much the exact routes. Obviously, the tester is entitled to vary them a bit, but there is only so far they can take you bearing in mind the fact that they have to be back in 30-40 minutes.

twice as likely to pass in Limerick, i'd do it down there if i had the chance! I think the thing about Rathgar and Churchtown is that people may not be that familiar with them, you could be living in say Cabinteely, and test in rathgar, and you may not realise that Rathgar/churchtown is full of tiny rat runs and awkward little roads and estates that it would really help to be familiar with. Lot of traffic, lot of side-of-the-road parking, lot of traffic lights, stops signs, cycle lanes, and a lot of awkward left hand reverses, including a few uphill.

If youre a good driver and have a bit of experience driving around rathgar area you should be ok, but do take the pass rate into account. If only 4 out of 10 pass, then you have to consider that some decent drivers fail too.
