I went to get a vehicle tested and apparently there are three letters missing from the start of the chassis number on the v.l.c. compared to the actual chassis number. All other numbers match. I don't have the vehicle 'registration' cert. How do i get this sorted/verifyed?

That's weird. As far as I know the VINs first 3 numbers are the world manufacturer id, if that's the case then I dont see how that's a problem. I wonder if they were looking at the right number.

What car is it? For example, if it is Germany it should start with WA-W0

Anyway, try giving Shannon a call 1890 411412

As above give Shannon a ring its not unheard of for the Muppet's down there to cock up the vlc I have even seen incorrect dates of first registration on the vls's of cars imported from the UK as well as vin numbers been filled in incorrectly we even had a Honda civic through and on the vlc for number of seats it said 3 where it should have read 5

Thanks for the replies. Its an '02 range rover and the letters 'SAL' are missing on the v.l.c. compared to the actual ch. no.
    I will try contacting Shannon.

Yeah, SA-SM will belong a UK car.

good luck then, I dont understand why they are being so picky. I mean, if you had a fake vin you will see the difference on the last 7 numbers not the first 3. Anyway I suppose is the law

SAL is just the ID code for Land Rovers. Don't see how it's an issue. NCT being overly pedantic.
1st character- Identifies the country in which the vehicle was manufactured.
    For example: U.S.A.(1or 4), Canada(2), Mexico(3), Japan(J), Korea(K), England(S), Germany(W), Italy(Z)

2nd character- Identifies the manufacturer. For example; Audi(A),
    BMW(B), Buick(4), Cadillac(6), Chevrolet(1), Chrysler(C), Dodge(B),
    Ford(F), GM Canada(7), General Motors(G), Honda(H), Jaquar(A), Lincoln(L), Mercedes Benz(D), Mercury(M), Nissan(N), Oldsmobile(3), Pontiac(2or5), Plymouth(P), Saturn(8), Toyota(T), VW(V), Volvo(V).

3rd character- Identifies vehicle type or manufacturing division.

VRC and VLC are the same thing.

VLC for 1993 to 2004, VRC since then.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.
