    Hello,

1.9 tdi Golf Estate, AGR engine code.

A rear shock is in need of replacing I think. Its falling down under its own weight when off the car.

They are on micksgarages. Are these brands any good in your opinion?
Quinton Hazel 35 to 40 euro (misspelling here im sure)
    KYB - 56 to 130

    Price for each.

    Should I replace both?

One front shock mount needs doing.

Not quite sure which I need to supply to my Indy mechanic, or brand.

Should I do both and should i go OEM?
I have had both "shock tops" done in the last two years, already gone? Bad quality part used by garage?

Can any polyurethane components be used here so I can get it fitted, leave it and maybe tighten the front up a tad?

    Many thanks :-)

I'd suggest replacing the shocks in pairs, it ensures that they're roughly the same strength or providing the same resistance against the springs, making the car more stable, and it means that you'll avoid having the other shock fail on its own at some point in the future.

This has happened to me, the previous owner replaced a single front shock, now the other one has failed. As a rear shock also failed there's 4 new shocks coming :)

As for top mounts, you can get ones which have polyurethane instead of a standard (bearing usually) mount, but may cost more and may make the ride somewhat harsher, which is usually the compromise for using them.

That was what I was thinkin alright.
Just have to decide what brands to get and figure out what's needed for the front.

    Thanks!
