Back from Canada - can I get the dole if I don't find work?

    Hi everyone,
I am new here and I have a question about the jobseekers benefit.
I am coming back from Canada after a year. I legally worked for about 9 months in Toronto.
Would I be eligible for the dole in case I cannot find a job?
Prior to that I worked in Cork for 6 years, I had been on the dole twice, first 3 months then two years ago I had to again take it for another few months.
    Does anyone know about this?

    thx

    Welcome to Boards.

I think because you were employed before hand and have stamps built up I wouldn't think the fact you were not here paying or claiming stamps would effect you getting the social but your best bet is to call you local SW office tomorrow as they can advise you better. You will need definite advice from the social themselves or else check it out on citizensinformation or welfare website.

The qualifying year for JSB is 2010,if you have enough stamps for that year you will qualify.

    Hello,
    thank you,
I checked and quickly calculated my stamps and also checked the link you sent me so it looks like I would be eligible had I return now to dear old Ireland.:)
