Could anyone tell me about how much would I pay for a new clutch on a 1.4 99 Astra ?

No, but if its like older Astra's and Kadett's it should be cheaper on labour, [esp from an indy garage ?], as the gearbox does not have to be separated from the engine. An access panel on the bellhousing allows the clutch cover and friction plate to be replaced after withdrawing the gearbox shaft through the gearbox. An excellent bit of design IMHO.

Thanks for the ill have to ring a few places and get a quote. I put the car in 4th at started it, lifted my foot of the clutch and it stalled did the same in 3rd and it stayed running. So I am guessing that it needs to be replaced, also I dont have much power when accelerating (normally from about 40km to 50ish). I am going to get a mechanic to look at it, but I dont have a regular guy I use so I would be weary if he said it needed replacing.

Its not the same as mentioned above for a 99(mk4) astra. Quite the opposite in fact, the subframe has to be dropped to remove the gearbox.
