Quobilai-3.40 newton abbot. Trainer in great form and excels at running up winning sequences. The horse cruised to victory in a class 4 at wetherby last week. Gets in here off bottom weight. Better grade of race is a worry but should go close.

4 I like the look of tomorrow and 1 bit of strong info.

    2.05 Kempton

    Chapter and Verse 10/1

Mike Murphy's 6 year old comes here on the back of a 5 month break but has gone well fresh in the past so I am not concerned about him not being race ready. Although 3lb above his last winning mark, he won very impressively by 2.25L that day and certainly looked to have a lot in hand. Furthermore, he put in a very good effort off a mark of 94 and was beaten by 1.25L in a Listed race, where the 3 horse in front of him were all rated 105 or higher. Although it is a concern he is winless since 2010 over C&Dand he finds it very hard to get his head in front, he definitely has the talent to win off his current mark in my eyes. Mike Murphy is in very good from at the moment and Ryan Moore is a very eye catching booking as he is teaming up with this trainer for the first time. Although everything will have to drop right for him, I certainly think under Moore's guidance he can go very close at a nice price.

    2.50 Cork

    Katla 14/1

Looks very overpriced in my eyes. John Grogan's 4 year old is twice a Listed winner to date, including a 6L victory over Barefoot Lady as a 2 year old. She comes here on the back of a very good 2nd in a Listed race at Dundalk two weeks ago, especially as it was over 5f and on the back of nearly 6 months off the track and she has needed the run on the back of previous absences and should definitely strip a lot fitter for that effort. This C&D winner should relish the step back up in trip to 6f as it is clearly her best trip. Jockey Seamie Heffernan takes the ride for the first time tomorrow and I am very hopeful she can run a very big race form her good draw in stall 11.

    2.55 Haydock

    Top Smart 12/1

Was a lot to like about his win on his last start and I certainly think he won with more in hand than the 6lb penalty he has been given, although the form of that race has worked out pretty badly. Although he's stepping up from a Class 4 to a Class 2 a, he has finished a 2L beaten 3rd in a Class 2 before off the mark he won on his last start so I certainly don't think this challenge is beyond him. Dominic Elsworth, who gave him a beautiful ride the last day, keeps the ride on Seamus Mullins' 6 year old in an attempt to maintain their 100% success rate. Although this looks an extremely open race that Brian Ellison seems desperate to win with 7 entries, I certainly don't think that Top Smart will not be better than his current mark during his career. With ground and trip looking ideal, I think he has a great chance of going close in a good race.

    3.20 Mussleburgh

    Oil Strike 14/1

Oil Strike is another horse that finds it very difficult to win and is actually still a maiden on turf, although I am convinced he is just as good a horse on turf as he is on the AW. During his time with Peter Winkworth this 5 year old won twice, including off a 3lb higher mark. He has a myriad of other very good performances off similar marks in the past, including finishing a head 2nd off this mark and a very unlucky 3L 3rd off a 2lb higher mark last year. Oil Strike is now with Mick Easterby and this will be his 2nd start for his new trainer, with his stable debut coming back in February on the AW where he travelled into the race very well before fading in the final furlong. That race was on the back of a 6 month break and considering he has a poor record fresh I feel he will come on a lot for that effort. Although he tried to make all on his last start, Oil Strike has no problem from coming off the pace which should definitely be beneficial given his poor draw in Stall 10. With his trainer is good form at present and under the guidance of James Sullivan, I am 100% convinced Oil Strike can with off his current mark of 85 and if everything falls into place for him I see no reason why that can't be tomorrow.

The strong info is for 5.00 Cork Legendary Times FC 10/1.

Patrick Flynn's 6 year old comes here on the back of 6 month absence, but has a fantastic record fresh. In her two efforts on the back of 4 month+ breaks, she has a record of a very unlucky 0.25L defeat in 2nd and a very easy victory. Although 12lb above her last winning mark (broke slowly that day and still won eased down), she is only 1lb above her mark when finishing 2nd at Wexford back in August, where the winner won by 2L off a 9lb higher mark on their next start. Tomorrow's race represents a step back in trip which looks sure to suit and Shane Gray takes off a very handy 4lb in this Apprentice handicap. With her trainer in good form and a very good record fresh, I am confident that Legendary Times can go very close to winning this at a nice price.

Can't believe Katla is 14/1. That said, Tough As Nails is a cracking bet at 7/1

    Bet of the weekend:

Taigan in the last at Cork. Was stung when I backed him at Leopardstown because I was at the track, breaking my rule of not backing O'Brien horses this early. That said, he's going to be much sharper having had a run and he'll go off a much nicer price.

I didn't to be honest sting. A mixture of pints and focusing on my horse at the back of the field meant I didn't take too much away from Leop

Just took 8/1 with Skybet. 4/1 in places. At the very least it could be a good back to lay proposition.

I'd actually advise everyone to take that 8's. It's blue across the board on oddschecker and SB still standing 8's. I've just kept putting more on, will lay most off later

    Skybet still offering 8s

    Skybet still offering 8s

I can't understand it. He's 11/2 best price in other places. I've put a very large bet for me on at 8's and have nearly emptied my bank account to cover it at 11/2 on Betfair. It's left me with a hell of a nice free bet on the horse however. Worst case is break even

You've tilted the market Hulk ;).

    9/2 now with Skybet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,016 ✭✭✭Hulk Hands

    I wish :o

It's funny, usually the arbers on Betfair are all over something like that, but there wasnt much lining up to lay. We'll see I suppose, heres hoping

Just thought it might be worth posting. Popped down to bookies to back the soccer and through my own nosiness the person beside me was writing out a 250€ E/W bet for Night Singer at 5. Whether he put it on or not I do not know as I was in a rush. Been a keen observer over the last few weeks since and I would like to echo the sentiments of some other people and say cheers Rossom with some of the tips you have posted. Very insightful and most importantly profitable! Have Legendary Times at 5 from your advice so fingers crossed.

disaster. would have won had he broken well but at least he got 3rd. gutted though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,260 ✭✭✭Juwwi

3rd was given way too much to do in my opinion.

Looks like she needs further.at least each way part came in.

    Thanks for the tip Rossom.

Edit l did'nt see the break did'nt know the colours maybe lm
    being harsh on the jockey.

Yeah decent tip. You hit the crossbar a lot today, but keep the write up's coming

Considering the disastrous break i think he done really well to get up for third, if he had broke well, he most likely would have won it so i think it was a very good tip. Cheers Rossom.

It would have won by about 5 lengths had it got out of the stalls. Keep them coming Rossom, that was a cert just ridiculously unlucky.
