Hi, well basicly I had braces for four years from the age of 13-16 years and decided it would be a great idea not to bother wearing my retainer. Im now 21 and my braces are back on. I have had them on for about 6 months and o my god I am in so much pain, which I have never had before! I am not sure should I be worried.

Hi there

dont worry too much, it is normal for teeth to be sore when braces are tightened. It should go after a few days. Chew gum or try painkillers.

Persistant severe pain is unusual with braces so if this is the case, have it checked by your dentist or orthodontist
