Cheaper underated second hand cars ? 2006-2010 models.

Hi Folks

I'm looking for a good value under rated 2007-2009 motor.

Badge/image/snob/pub chat/bullshyte value unimportant.

Criteria :
1. Value for money
2. Reliabilty
3. MPG
4. 1.6 - 2.0 litre.
5. 2006-2010

Any suggested under rated makes and models I should keep an eye out for ?

I always thought Chrysler 300c's were under rated and underpriced for what you get. A lot over a 2.0L though!

You could add the Fiat Punto/grande Punto to that list too. The latest models are very reliable in both petrol and 1.3 diesel flavour.

Opel Vectra. Took a big hit on the price when the Insignia launched. Was never great to hold value, but ticks most of the boxes in terms of reliability and comfort.

anyone ever seen a Kia ceed or a hyundai i30 with high miles on them?

if the answer is yes were they money pits or quite good?

they get good press on here don't know whether they deserve it or not as have never heard any high mileage stories about them

Big citroens and peugeots always collapsed in price very quickly.

I'd say if you did your homework and find a late model 407, you could have a fine car with all the foibles of the earlier models sorted out.

For the PRICE they are fine.

Build quality is fine too, I've never spotted any issues in them

Diesel is very good and holds its value better.

The petrol is also very good but doesn't hold it's value as everyone wants the diesel

I would love to meet the guy or gal who bought a 3L petrol Citroen, that must have been a solo sale in Ireland. Looks a lovely car; would have wanted the C6 though.

I met a Taxi driver in Dublin before who used to get them on special order every 2 years

Thanks, going to look at a few 11 reg ones during the week. Changing from a 09 P308 1.6HDi. Not mad on the looks of the i30 but then the 308 isn't very pretty either !

They have just been replaced by a new model which is a very good looking car so haggle hard
