Looks like Tb stands for timing belt and it was changed at 113,000 miles , does that make sense to you?

It *looks* like a Diesel Pre-Heater, but the likes of Row on here will know better than me.

would that cause it to cut out if you rev it a little if the part is broken as it cut out a few times when started when reved a little and some smoke came from this part.

That, my friend, is a do hickey. Later models had a thingy ma jig.

Seriously though, you can sometimes find Haynes manuals, or a workshop manual.

Yep your on the ball Owen..:)
For the world its a diesel burner which pre heats the coolent, this inturn heats up the heater matrix in the heating system.
The Hp pump diesel supply is tee'd into this which would take alittle diesel from the hp pump when the engine is cold but unless your fuel filter is blocked
if should'nt cause it to cut out.

The fuel filter housings on these can also suck in air over night if not sealed correctly and can cause all sorts of problems.
The first thing is to replace the fuel filter and ensure its sealed correctly.
after that get it plugged in and see what faults are logged.

    Peugeot/Citroen call this a Re-Heater.

would this cause the the heater to only blow cold air on the inside of the van if it is broken also?

Once the engine warms up you should be getting warm air in the cabin unless
your coolant level is low..the coolant system is airlocked or the warm air controller is not working correctly.

we have not got hot or warm air in about 3 years all we get is cold. peugeot dealer said it was heater control panel that need changing then, we didnt bother as it was somewhere over €500 for the part alone. but when we asked about changing the part last year they said they were unsure that this was the problem for cold air. could this be linked to the pre heater?

It maybe worth trying a s/h control unit.
When you start the van from cold and leave let it run at idle does the pre-heater fire up..?
Do the coolent hoses heat up going in/out of the the preheater..?
Do the feed/return heater matrix hoses get warm..?

Additional heating burner. Not of alot of use in Ireland. Most of them don't work at this stage.
