I set up a bootable usb stick and a bootable hdd. Both boot to the installation screen on my main pc (not the one I want to install on).

However if I try to boot from them on the pc I want to install on, it says 'non-system disk'? Any idea how to fix this?

I tried changing boot priority and now the pc cuts out three - five seconds after I turn on the power and I can't do anything, which makes no sense -_-
I changed priomary boot to hdd from floppy, and changed the priority of the hdds. But it makes no sense as now I can't even get into bios.

Ok I managed to get into the boot options and put it back the way it was, I'm not even gonna ask why that was happening...

Now I still get the non-system disk error and if I install it from the windows partition already on there, it fails at the 'expanding files' part of the installation saying windows can't install the required files. Error code 0x80070570

    Hi pretty lady!

I reckon you have a hardware problem. If its happening at the same spot over and over its most likely a dead or dying hard drive.

    Lmao at both those posts.

It doesn't happen at the same place every time, it randomly happens. Once I got to finalizing installation and my computer went off -_- I have also been trying to install it on two hard drives and the same thing happens.

I can still use the windows that is installed but as I changed components I wanted a fresh install. :/

Did you try scanning the memory on the pc. Downlaod memtest and run a scan.

How did you create the usb disk.

YUMI is a usefull tool to get the USB drive bootable and you can set it up to boot to both the memtest iso and the Windows 7 one.

Will try memtest and YUMI thanks.

I used daemon tools at first to create it, then I used the microsoft usb creator.

For the usb hdd I used daemon tools, extracted the iso to it.

I gave up on booting from them and have been running the installer after I load into the old windows installation.

simply extracting the iso wont work, as it will omit certain files needed to make the usb stick bootable.

try following this guide : http://arstechnica.com/business/news/2009/12/-the-usb-flash-drive.ars

Thanks, not sure why it wouldn't work, as I have only ever installed windows like that and it works fine. You just make the usb bootable in cmd. I also have already tried that usb tool and the same thing happened, and they are both bootable on my main pc so it is the pcs fault :p

In the end I'm just not gonna bother reinstalling windows I think! PC appears to work fine even though I changed the mobo, psu, ram, cpu, so I'll just leave it be.

had a quick google there.. the '0x80070570 error' seems to have various fixes depending on who you ask.. some people solved it by removing a stick of ram, others by clearing the bios/cmos, others by cancelling the install when it fails and attempting to install it again without rebooting.. take your pick i spose!

sure, if it ain't broke.... :)
