Built-in microphone suddenly stopped working

    Hi Everyone,
I have a problem regarding the built-in microphone of my Notebook computer. I have a MSI Wind 130 and I mainly use it for Skype. I have had the computer for about 10 months now and I've never had a problem with it. It had been working perfectly.

Anyway, I tried to Skype a friend yesterday and she couldn't hear me at all. (I could hear her perfectly).

I've tried to sort the problem myself. I checked the Audio settings for Skype, but the green bar which is supposed to respond to sound was not moving at all. Also, the test call only picked up static and didn't pick up my voice at all.

Nothing I try seems to do any good. And I've finally run out of options.

Anyone any ideas what the problem could be?

    Thanks in advance! :)

Did you try changing the Microphone in the audio settings? It can happen that Skype picks up something other than the internal mic for sound and that would cause this problem

    Hi Nick,
Thanks for your reply! I've looked at the audio settings and ''Realteck High Definition Audio'' is selected and it's the only option int he drop-down menu...

Totally baffled as to how this could have happened!

Is it muted per chance? Seen this happen before! Not the sound now the microphone! Also test it on the built in sound recorder and see if it is skype causing the problem!

Make sure you test the microphone on its own, not in Skype. Make sure the driver isn't corrupt or anything, even go get the latest driver instead.
