Can I just use one connector on a dual LNB?

I'm considering trying to add a single 19.2E feed to my dual Astra 28.2E setup here in Bray and to save having to buy a separate single LNB, I am wondering can I use just one half of a dual LNB I have lying around here for that? If so, do I have to terminate the unused connector in any way, or just weatherproof it somehow?

Also are diseqc switches generally OK to be mounted outside, or would I be better off feeding the third cable into the attic and putting the switch in there?

Just weatherproof the unused lnb connection.

If the diseqc switch has a weatherproof cover, there's no reason why it can't live outside too.

    Great news!

Regarding the diseqc switch, this is the one I was planning on getting ...

Just noticed it says in the description that it's water resistant, so that sounds OK.

it would be ok outside as long as you weatherproof the connections.

the most used way of weatherproofing has been self amalgamating tape but you can also get boots that sit over the connections after you have screwed them home. (the boots normally need to be pushed onto the cable before you make off the connector).

i have seen electrical insulating tape used but its not a great job and doesn't last.

theres a picture of a boot attached.

Thanks. I already have self amalgamating tape that I've used on the existing LNB connectors and that seems to do the job.
